Vihing's career has revolved around IT since 1995. In 2004, she made the move into the field of social enterprise, setting up and managing a project providing training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. She went on to run several Government and European-funded projects, all the while furthering her interest in assistive technology, assessing, training and raising awareness of adaptations within third-sector organisations.

In 2008, Vihing joined AbilityNet, a national charity promoting computer access for people with disabilities. In this role she worked directly with individuals with a variety of disabling conditions and of all ages, seeking technological solutions to enhance independence and communication. She also delivered three major European-funded projects – again working collaboratively with third-sector organisations throughout the UK.

Vihing started her own consultancy in 2010, providing special-needs assessments for higher- education students at universities such as Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Warwick and the Open University. In this role she assessed the individual needs of students and worked closely with Universities' Disability Advisors.

She also provided consultancy, training and support for the Access to Work scheme as a sub-contractor to multiple organisations holding contracts with the DWP. She provided training services, on a similar basis, through the main contractors.

In 2012, Vihing began taking instructions from case managers, including JS Parker Ltd,

Bush & Co and Community Case Management Services (CCMS); using her expertise, she sought to implement assistive technology for children and their families, enhancing day-to-day living, and learning and inclusion.

Over many years, she has supported children and adults with multiple disabilities, including cerebral palsy, head and spinal injuries, hearing and visual impairments, global development delay, Autism and learning difficulties. She also has experience in mental health, diabetes, Crohn's disease and Sickle Cell disease.

Vihing regularly implements solutions for individuals and has a working knowledge of special-needs hardware/software and apps; these include Tobii communication aids, Clicker, The Grid, Snap Core First, Eye-Gaze cameras, Dolphin's SuperNova, OrCam, Text Help, Dragon Naturally Speaking and others.

In common with all SMA consultants, Vihing holds certificates from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); she is working towards a qualification with Bond Solon.
